Eyes to the sky

True Sphere takes its privileged guests stargazing in Khao Yai and to admire the hot air balloons in Pak Chong

Published on November 17, 2007

Imagine watching the stars glitter in the cool night air while sipping good wine and listening to cool jazz in a mountain valley, or viewing nature's wonders from a hot air balloon.

Last weekend, 40 of True Corporation's privileged clients were fortunate enough to enjoy these experiences, heading up to the luxury Keeremaya Resort and Spa in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima for the "True Sphere Lecture Series VIII: Starry Night".

Before nightfall, physics lecturer Chaiyapong Ruangsuwan of Khon Kaen University taught us how to read the stars. After a presentation on the universe, we learned how to use a compass, read a map of the stars and use a light bulb with a filter

Celebrity painter Chalit Nakpawan then showed us how to read our heart by painting. He asked to write down the 10 most important things in our minds and then draw them into heart-shape painting onto T-shirts. It was a relaxing activity that everyone enjoyed painting, especially Vitoon Sila-on and his family. Interestingly, the children came up with some powerful paintings, mainly of comic characters of toys while the adults focused on politics, money, bigger houses as well as peace of mind.

There were romantic moments as we enjoyed a barbecue dinner under the stars and listened to pop jazz singer Radklao Amaradith entertain us with beautiful songs. The highlight moment - reading the stars - came late at night. Laying on beanbags or inside sleeping bags in the dark, Chaiyapong led us to discover the sky. For the children, it was a true learning experience. They really enjoyed looking at the sky through the telescopes.

Early the next morning, we headed to the Royal Army's Dog Training Centre where dozens of colourful hot air balloons rose lazily into the blue sky.

Targeting the kingdom's trendsetters, True Sphere hosts truly innovative events. A-listers included the CEOs from Ogilvy Advertising, Reuters and Bangkok Bank.

The campaign kicked off in 2005 with live performance by French's "Les Farfadais" in Bangkok. Other cool trips have included a trip to the "King Naresuan" film set in Kanchanaburi, candlelight dining at a World Heritage Site - a temple in Ayutthaya - and a trip aboard the Oriental Express train to Hua Hin.
