Six parties take oath not to buy votes

Six top political parties, in the presence of Election Commission officials, took an oath at Bangkok's Temple of the Emerald Buddha not to commit electoral fraud.

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Matchima Thipataya Party chief Prachai Leopairatana, New Aspiration Party head Chingchai Mongkoltham and People Power Party representative Plodprasop Suraswadi were among those who vowed not to buy votes and resort to mudslinging.

EC officials also vowed before the Emerald Buddha that they would organise the election in a fair manner.

They read the vow that if they conformed to their oath, they would live a peaceful life, otherwise they would meet with downfall.
