Gas price up at least Bt1.29 per kg
Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand insisted that cooking gas price restructuring would take place by the end of October, hinting that the price could rise at least Bt1.29 per kg.
At present, the Oil Fund subsidises the cooking gas price at Bt1.29 per kg.
Piyasvasti added that it is being reviewed how to handle refiners' subsidies. Refiners can sell the gas at US$315 per tonne, against the world price of $740. As such, refiners are shouldering the difference of Bt1.36 per kg.
"Without the change, motorists would be encouraged to switch to this gas. If the situation remains this way, Thailand would need to import the gas," he said.
