Samak warns Democrats not to form gov if losing poll

Samak Sundaravej, leader of the People Power Party (PPP), said on Monday it would be ashamed for the Democrat Party if it tried to form a coalition government despite losing the December 23 election.

Samak responded to an assumption that the Democrats might compete with PPP to form a coalition government if a gap of seats both rival parties was small.

He said the Democrats' chief advisor [Chuan Leekpai] would not allow the party to violate a norm that the winning party should be first to form a government.
