Sonthi says no to politics

Deputy Prime Minister Sonthi Boonyaratglin ruled out his political career on Monday by saying he wanted to devote time to enjoy life playing soccor, tennis and golf after the December 23 election.

"I will not enter politics," he said, adding he has never had any political ambitions.

Sonthi said he had no plans to hold an elected office nor to contest the senatorial race. He stopped short of ruling out a possibility of being invited to join the next government under the nonpartisan quota.

"I don't know whether anyone will invite me - this is still the future issue for me to consider," he said.
