New EGAT governor works along PDP strategies

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand will proceed with the strategies as highlighted in the Power Development Plan (PDP), said newly-appointed governor Sombat Sarntijaree.

On his first day in office on Monday, he said that he would follow four main strategies which involve the power generating from coal and nuclear.

"EGAT will concentrate more on corporate social responsibility," he said, citing that public acceptance will ensure that Egat's mission would be accomplished.

EGAT would rush the establishment of a community fund to develop communities around its power plants. Meanwhile, ahead of the construction of a new coal-fired power plant, EGAT would spend about a year to educate the public. Sombat was not specific where the location would be.
