Egg hens raisers request export ban on corn

The egg hen raisers cooperatives in Chon Buri has asked the government to impose a temporary ban on corn exports, citing that it should stabilise the feedmill cost.

Manoon Suthaphatip, president of the cooperatives, said that corns for feedmill production has risen to Bt8 per kg, from Bt5 last year. He said China and India which suffered from this problem imposed the ban on corn exports and it brought down corn price to Bt7 per kg.

He noted that this should help farmers who are suffering from higher operating costs due to the more expensive feedmill and oil prices.
