Yangyong, who is chairman of Saha Life's board, said the company would be allowed to resume operations after the injection of about Bt230 million. It has been under the control of the authorities since March due to lower-than-required reserves.

Cassava pricing

The Commerce Ministry recently endorsed the price-pledging programme for cassava.

The pledging price will gradually increase by five satang a month, from Bt1.70 per kilogram in January to Bt1.85/kg in April.

Commerce Minister Krirk-krai Jirapaet said that despite high demand for cassava in the world market, the government had to continue the programme lest middlemen take all the profits and leave farmers with losses.

E20 testing

The Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency Department is testing out E20 - petrol containing 20-per-cent ethanol - in old cars in order to ascertain whether the fuel leads to any problems.

Nine vehicle brands will be tested in the one-year programme, which precedes the Energy Ministry's planned measures for promoting the use of E20, department director-general Panich Pongpirodom said yesterday.

The agency will also test increasing the ratio of ethanol in diesel to above 5 per cent.

KTC thrives

Krungthai Card's third-quarter net profit rose 29 per cent to Bt7.78 billion, and revenue expanded 35 per cent year on year, due to portfolio management and delinquency-rate control.

Credit-card spending was 15 per cent greater than in the same period last year.

The delinquency rate (30-179 days) for receivables from all businesses is below the industry average, KTC said yesterday. The company has a membership base of 1.92 million accounts.

Bonds ready

DAD SPV, a special-purpose vehicle established to securitise future rental income from the Treasury Department, on Thursday completed the book-building process for its baht-denominated bond offering.
