SME loan condition revised
The Office of Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion and the Federation of Thai Industries will revise conditions of a funding scheme, to provide fundings to small and medium-sized enterprises which want to increase energy efficiency.
Jhitraporn Techacharn, director-general of the office, said under the revision, SMEs can obtain loans to increase energy efficiency of existing machinery as well as for new machinery purchases.
High oil prices draw huge interest from SMEs. Under the project which will end at this year, about 157 enterprises have passed the preliminary qualification criteria for the funding of Bt2 billion. Among them, 47 enterprises' proposals have been approved for the funding worth Bt522 million. However, financial institutions approved loans to only 5 of them, worth Bt80.7 million.
