Shell said yesterday that the new price in Bangkok would be Bt31.69.

Also raising their prices by 50 satang are Siam United Service (Susco) and Petronas Retail (Thailand).

It was reported that PTT would hold off on a price increase.

The hikes follow the Oil Fund's decision on Monday not to cut contributions from 95-octane petrol sales, while those for other fuels were cut by 40 satang per litre. - The Nation

The Department of Export Promotion plans to dispatch a team of experts to educate manufacturers about market trends to ensure a warm welcome from buyers and discourage price-cutting.

Director-general Rachane Pojanasunthorn yesterday said this was one of the strategies to increase manufacturers' competitiveness next year in the light of continued risk factors: a slowing economy in the US and Japan, oil-prices hikes and a strong baht.

"We will introduce them to the latest consumption trends, particularly in the beauty and health sector. This should lead to a change in package design and brand strategies, which will allow manufacturers to price their products in line with costs. This should help them maintain a competitive edge and give them the means to handle risk factors," Rachane said. - The Nation

Correction

An item published in The Nation's Business Section on Tuesday stated that Nok Air was operating services on the Bangkok-Hanoi route twice weekly. The airline is in fact flying the route twice a day.
