10 Political Commandments for politicians

At the Wednesday's drawing of ballot numbers, student activists set up a booth for party leaders to view and sign the Ten Political Commandments spelling out ethics for politicians.



Some 16 leaders from all major parties endorsed the commandments. Two small parties, Farmer Network of Thailand Party and Pattana Prachathipatai Party, refused to participate in the signature campaign.

The commandments are

1. Politicans must serve the country and the people based on national interests

2. Politicans must caution one another on any misconduct

3. Politicians must maintain a right attitude toward the people

4. Politicians must have legitimacy

5. Politicians must assist the people to differentiate between politicking and electioneering

6. Politicians must honour promises

7. Politicians must not succumb to greed and vanity

8. Politicians must be a role model on gratitude

9. Politicians must not buy votes nor corrupt nor abondon ideology

10. Politians must frame anyone to gain political advantages
