Nine other kindergarten children and the bus driver were injured when the train slammed into the bus near the Thung Si Thong train station in Bang Nam Jued at 4pm.

The bus driver was critically injured and could not give a statement to police, said Lt-Colonel Nipan Wialairoj of the Muang Samut Sakhon police station.

The driver of the train and other witnesses will be summoned to help the police with their investigation, he said.

The bus, belonging to Sunflower Kindergarten School in Bang Bon, was speeding up to the rail crossing when it was hit on the driver's side, said Linjee Leunroj, a vendor who witnessed the accident.

She urged the authorities to act because the spot had no level crossing and accidents often happened there.
