DEP teams out to help Thai manufacturers
The Department of Export Promotion plans to dispatch a team of experts to help educate Thai manufacturers of market trends, to ensure warm welcome from buyers and the absence of price cutting.
Rachane Pojanasunthorn, director-general of the department said that this is one of the strategies to increase Thai manufactures' competitiveness in the year to come in light of continued risk factors - slowing economy in the US and Japan, continued hikes in oil prices and the strong baht.
"We will introduce them of the latest consumption trends particularly in the beauty and health sector. This should lead to a change in package designing and the brand strategies which allow manufacturers to price their products in line with the cost. This should help them maintain the competitive edge and give them the means to handle risk factors," Rachane said.
