EC approves legal experts to look into documents

The Election Commission (EC) Friday appointed former state attorney Suphon Yuthithada to head a committee to look into classified documents that allegedly detail a military propaganda strategy against the People Power Party (PPP).

Election commissioner Somchai Juengprasert said EC chairman Apichart Sukhagganond has approved five law experts to conduct the EC investigation into the controversial documents.

Apart from Suphon, the panel members include Duangkamol Nithi-uthai, former State Council official; Nanthawat Boramanan, law lecturer of Chulalongkorn University; Kamchai Chongchakkaphan, former Thammasat University law lecturer; and retired Pol Col Suthep Romyanont.

Earlier on Thursday, former EC member Gothom Arya declined the EC's invitation to head the panel.
