Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana defeated his old foe Chen Hong of China to progress to the men's singles second round at the French Super Series in Paris yesterday.

The Thai ace, who edged Chen 24-22 13-21 21-12, face Malaysia's Sairul Amar Ayob, who won 19-21 22-20 21-16 over Eric Pang of Netherlands in a tough match.
