SET closes 0.5% lower

Thai shares closed 0.5 per cent lower on Thursday on profit-taking in bank and energy stocks following the strong gains.



It fell, though the US Federal Reserve (Fed) cut its overnight rate by 25 basis points to 4.5 per cent.

 The SET index was in volatile trading session. It started the day with strong gain but it succumbed to profit-taking and ended the market at 902.73, off the days' low at 902.08. Turnover was moderate at Bt26 billion.

 Among the most active, PTT Plc (PTT) was flat at Bt416, PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) fell 0.62 per cent at Bt161, Thai Oil Plc (TOP) lost 0.52per cent at Bt95.50, Banpu Plc (BANPU) was unchanged at Bt444, and PTT Chemical Plc (PTTCH) slumped 2.92 per cent at Bt133.
