Hygienic farms
Charoen Pokphand Foods is hosting a "hygienic farm" contest, to encourage chicken and pig farmers to become more concerned about environmental safety.
Executive vice president Virachai Ratanabanchuen yesterday said the contest would include both small and large farmers. However, the farms must strictly operate under Livestock Development Department restrictions, particularly about pollution.
Interested farmers can apply at the livestock office in their provinces anytime this month. A final announcement will be held next February.
Contraband IP
The Intellectual Property Department will destroy 450,000 items of illegal intellectual-property-right products worth Bt64 million.
Director-general Puangrat Asavapisit said the event would show that the government was cracking down on piracy.
The event will take place at the Bang Pu Environmental Complex in Samut Prakan province, where foreign trade ambassadors will witness the destruction. Of the 450,000 illegal products seized by the Customs Department and police, 230,000 items are music and movie CDs and DVDs, 90,000 items of brand-name clothing, 20,000 leather goods, 13,000 brand-name watches and other brand-name products.
