Suthep says Democrats won't compete with allies in some areas

Suthep Thaugsuban, the Democrat Party's secretary-general, accepted on Wednesday that his party would not fill candidates in constituencies where its allies [Chat Thai and Pracharaj] would run for MP seats.

The provinces included Pichit, Suphanburi and Sa Kaew, he said.

Suthep said the Democrats would fill candidates only in 370 of 400 constituencies and skip some areas in northeastern provinces as they could not find qualified candidates to compete with other local runners.

The Democrats believed they could win about 170-180 constituent MP seats, 26 of which were of Bangkok, Suthep added.
