Thai AirAsia warns of fuel surcharge

Budget airline Thai AirAsia will add another fuel surcharge averaging Bt100 for all routes if the world oil price jumps to US$100 (Bt3,400) per barrel.

Published on October 31, 2007

CEO Tassapon Bijleveld said the airline was seeking a surcharge of Bt400 for domestic routes and Bt600 to Bt750 for international routes. Oil prices are now $93 to $94 per barrel.

The airline will add one more domestic route from Bangkok to Ranong province, starting today, with three flights a week. Moreover, it plans to operate Bangkok-Jakarta and Phuket-Singapore routes next month.

Thailand Post to raise service fees

Thailand Post has adjusted its service fees for Messenger Post, its delivery service in Bangkok and peripheral areas, due to oil prices.

Corporate and marketing communication manager Parisa Pananond yesterday said the minimum fee would start at Bt80 for a parcel weight not exceeding 500 grams. The service will guarantee that parcels reach their destination within 30 minutes if the distance does not exceed 10 kilometres.

Parisa said the new fees would take effect tomorrow.
