EC secretary-general Sutthipol Taweechaikarn said the party had sent the document to the agency on Friday. The EC investigative division has been considering if the task is within its responsibility. If so, the EC will appoint a panel to complete the task.
EC commissioner Somchai Jungprasert, in charge of the investigation, said he would bring the issue to the EC
to appoint a panel. The law states clearly that the EC is obliged to investigate attempts to destroy a political party.
"We cannot reveal the details right now as the information from two related parties contain conflicts. We don't want to cause problems and the EC will consider the mater fairly," he said. "The investigation shouldn't take too long. We can't leave this issue for too long."
However, commissioner Sodsri Satayatham said it was not clear whether the documents were genuine as the Council for National Security had not given any confirmation. She personally thought it was for the justice agencies to investigate.
"Filing a complaint with the EC? I don't think the EC is a court. It's not our duty to fix this issue. There hasn't been any conclusion so far, only arguments," she said.
