Three arrested for murder of Phrae politician

Police yesterday arrested three men they allege shot dead a local politician last Monday.

The police, who did not identify the suspects but said one of them was a former provincial council member, led the three men to a search of a house belonging to brothers Jongrak and Saroj Supphasiri, who were related to former Democrat Party MP Siriwan Prassakjaksattru.

Police later searched a house belonging to Phongsawas Prassakjaksattru, a brother of Siriwan. No reporters were allowed inside the homes for both search operations, and no details of the search results were given.

Charnchai Silapaauychai, head of the Phrae Provincial Administrative Organisation, was shot dead while jogging in a public park last Monday. Police believe the motive was linked to politics.
