More than 45,000 people participated in last year's event and over 50,000 are expected to take part this time on Sunday, November 18.

"Join us in witnessing a sea of yellow-shirted runners paying tribute to His Majesty the King as they run past the beautiful skyline of the Royal Grand Palace and many other world-renowned sites in Bangkok," said General Manas Klaimanee, the organising committee chairman.

"This year's race marks the 20th anniversary of the Bangkok Marathon and also celebrates the 80th birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The route takes runners around the Royal Grand Palace and will raise funds for the King's Chaipattana Foundation.

"It will also raise money for Standard Chartered Bank's Seeing is Believing programme, which aims to help 10 million people through sight restoration, prevention and education in 20 countries, including Thailand," Manas added.

Anyone can run, walk or watch the historic event, which starts on Sanamchai Road in front of the Royal Grand Palace. People can encourage friends and family to take part by running or walking for a good cause.
