Pimex is coming soon

PIMEX 2007 - the fifth Phuket International Marine Expo - is coming up from December 6 to 9 at a new location, the prestigious Royal Phuket Marina.

The event, organised by Andaman Marine Consultants, attracts exhibitors from around the world.

Its capacity has expanded this year by 10 more berths, so there will be 40 yachts on view in the island's loveliest boating basin, together with an impressive number of other boats on land.

With 2,000 square feet of air-conditioned space, the exhibition hall will be buzzing with regular and first-time exhibitors - marine suppliers, yacht brands, the yachting press and the important brokers and dealers within the industry.

The show attracts more than 4,000 visitors every year, making the beautiful island a lively hub for sailing and cruising, and confirming its position as one of the first destinations of choice for marine leisure.

With plenty of facilities close by - ample parking, restaurants, clubs and a sports bar all directly within the show area - the Royal Phuket Marina's Town Square and Boardwalk will be bustling.

"There is every indication that this year's PIMEX will be the most successful yet," says show director Andy Dowden. "We're all looking forward to the activities programmed for this spectacular show in this fantastic location, which solidifies its position as Thailand's premier boating and lifestyle event."

PIMEX 2007 will be jam-packed with activities, including the inaugural launch of the Phuket International Dragon Boat Challenge Cup, a much-anticipated event that will take place in the marina basin during the show.

The target has been set for 42 teams of 12 to impress the crowds and compete in heats leading up to a grand finale. The winning team will receive sponsorship to enter the Dragon Boat World Championships in Penang, Malaysia, next summer.

The show also timely coincides with the King's Cup Regatta, an integral part of Phuket's annual marine showcase and voted the Yachting Event of the Year for the second year running at the last Christophle Awards.
