Thaksin's lawyers want to impeach Sak

The defence team of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra filed a petition on Thursday asking lawmakers to impeach graft buster Sak Korsaengruang on grounds of violating professional ethics prescribed for lawyers.

Sak is a member and spokesman of the Assets Examination Committee tasked to uncover corruption and abuse of power involving Thaksin.

"Sak is not qualified to hold a public office after a lower court reprimanded him for having a conflict of interest with a client he represented in September," the petition said.

The petition was drafted by Thaksin's three lawyers, Wichit Plansrisakul, Prakiart Nasimma and Nikom Chaokittisophon, and lodged with the National Legislative Assembly.

Prakiart said he would ask the Law Society of Thailand to revoke Sak's license to practice law.

The complaint against Sak was based on a litigation in the Thon Buri Criminal Court in which Sak and his client Anchalee Kongamnuaysuk had disputed about legal representation.

The case is under the appellate review.
