A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of His Majesty the King's brain yesterday showed no signs of infarction or destruction from obstruction to the blood supply, a statement from the Royal Household Bureau said.

There was also no evidence of cerebral blood vessel stenosis (narrowing) nor occlusion (blockage) to indicate any temporary cerebral ischemia or blockage of blood supply.

In addition, a Computerised Tomography (CT) conducted on the King's abdomen disclosed that the inflammation of the diverticulum of the large intestine is now nearly normal.

His general condition is satisfactory, the statement concluded.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn paid his first visit to His Majesty yesterday at Siriraj Hospital. He was accompanied by his consort, Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, and his daughter Her Royal Highness Princess Bajra Kitiyabha. The three Royals were greeted loudly by well-wishers gathered at the hospital.

Many Bangkok-based diplomats, including the ambassadors of Turkey and the Czech Republic, and three world leaders yesterday paid their respects and sent their best wishes to His Majesty.

Turkish Ambassador Cinar Aldemir said he had said a special prayer wishing His Majesty a speedy recovery, while Pakistan Ambassador Khateer Hasan Khan said His Majesty was not just the King of Thailand, but also the king of the world.

His Majesty also received wishes from the King of Bhutan, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Tharit Jarungwat.

Sonan Thensin, the labour minister of Bhutan, held up an image of His Majesty announcing that the King was adored by all and that people in Bhutan loved him as much as they loved their own King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck.

This drew loud applause from the crowds at the hospital.

Fifth grader Anyamanee Mangmee, 10, presented the King with a doll she made herself, saying that the red heart sewn on the left side of the chest represented the hearts of all Thai children.

Housewife Wilailak Sitthiboolwiwat, 40, presented His Majesty with a rare photo of him swimming in a river, using an inner tube as a safety device. She said that she had chosen to give His Majesty the picture even though it was rare because she loved seeing His Majesty look happy, just like he was in the picture.

The Royal Household Bureau distributed a total of 30,000 images of the King to the crowds, while two private charity groups handed out another 12,300 images.
