"We have successfully operated Marie France Bodyline in Thailand for 13 years. The slimming centre has a 58-per-cent share of Thailand's Bt2-billion slimming market and is expected to enjoy a dramatic growth of 35 per cent this year," said Sasivee Suetrong, general manager of Global Beauty International (Thailand).
She said there were 15 Marie France Bodyline centres serving 170,000 female customers in Thailand.
"Our new Men's Care centre has been set up to extend our customers into the new men's segment, and to offer them one-stop beauty services. The target is upper-income men aged between 25 and 55.
"We also found from our own research that about 30 per cent of Thai men are interested in taking care of their grooming. There are now players who run such a business seriously in this high-potential men's beauty segment," said Sasivee.
She added that the firm had launched Men's Skin centres in many countries, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
Sasivee said that in Thailand, men's beauty was a business segment witnessing dramatic growth of 35 per cent annually.
"We have seen a trend of an increasing number of male consumers. They
want to be good-looking and open themselves to beauty and slimming centres," she said.
The Men's Care centre at The Emporium occupies 130 square metres of retail space and consists of six private treatment rooms and three men's care specialists. The centre is expected to attract 15,000 to 20,000 visitors by the end of next year. Prices will range from Bt1,500 to Bt2,500 for facial treatments, to more than Bt5,000 for slimming services.
"We plan to open another five Men's Care centres next year at prime locations in Bangkok, including residential communities as well as office buildings," said Sasivee.
