Federer reigns supreme in ATP list despite Madrid loss

Hamburg (dpa) - Roger Federer of Switzerland kept first place in the men's tennis rankings despite an upset loss to David Nalbandian in the Madrid Masters final on Sunday.



The Australian, US Open and Wimbledon champion Federer has a big lead with 7,205 points in the latest list issued on Monday by the ATP. Spain's Rafael Nadal has 5,385 points and Serb Novak Djokovic 4,470 points.

 Nalbandian, who beat Federer in three sets Sunday, rose from 25 to 18 as he bids to return into the top 10.
