Highlights of the week:Pep talk for parties

The Election Commission today meets representatives of the political parties to ensure they understand the parameters of the election.

The meeting will cover campaign expenses for the parties and the boundaries of the new constituencies.

The meeting is held to prepare for the election decree, which is expected to be declared in the Royal Gazette on Wednesday.

Vote-buying

Deputy Prime Minister Sonthi Boonyarat-glin, who has been assigned to oversee the Interior Ministry, will call a meeting of the committee tasked with preventing vote-buying to discuss ways to solve the problem.

Sonthi is also scheduled to meet with members of the Assets Examination Committee tomorrow to discuss about the work of the special anti-graft agency he appointed after overthrowing Thaksin Shinawatra.

Press conference

Matchima Thippatai Party leader Prachai Leophairatana will today call a press conference to declare the party's stance after the failed attempt to merge with two other parties on Sunday.

Party secretary-general Anongwan Thepsuthin said candidates for Bangkok seats would be announced. The tentative constituency and party-list candidates will be revealed tomorrow.
