Deputy Social Develop-ment and Human Security Minister Poldej Pinpra-theep yesterday confirmed Wanlop was transferred on Friday.
"Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont signed the transfer order on October 19 and it took immediate effect," Poldej said.
Poldej said he and So-cial Development and Human Security Minister Paiboon Wattanasiritham agreed that Wanlop should be transferred while the investigation - chaired by the Justice Ministry permanent secretary Charan Phakdi-thanakul - was being conducted.
Charan recommended the transfer order. The investigation panel was established earlier this month.
"Wanlop is innocent until the investigation rules otherwise," Poldej insisted yesterday.
He had spoken to Wanlop about the transfer and Wanlop expressed understanding.
Currently, ministry deputy permanent secretary Chanyut Kosirinond
is acting permanent secretary.
Supensri Poungkaok-sung, who heads the Friends of Women Foundation protection centre, said her network would monitor the case.
She said National Human Rights Commiss-ioners or social-wel-
fare academics should be appointed to the investigation.
"The government should provide efficient mechanisms for receiving and
handling complaints of
sexual harassment at government agencies," she added.
