Amazing (and unseen) Thailand

Nong Chok, a rustic district in eastern Bangkok, will transform into a playground for weekend warriors and racers on November 10, when it hosts wilderness adventure races.

The Amazing Thailand Adventure Race Series, and the Yara Bangkok Challenge 2007, will take place in rice paddies, lakes and canals. There will be stops along the way for seeing temples. The multi-tasking racers will have stints running, mountain biking, swimming, kayaking and more. The registration fee is Bt4,500 for a team of two racers - either for men, women or mixed competitors. The race is open to people 16 or older.

Tucked away on Bangkok's eastern side, Nong Chok is an hour's drive from the city downtown. With beautiful countryside, it's one of the ideal locations for a "sweating weekend". The race is organised by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Active Management Asia. Call (02) 676 3869, e-mail info@active-asia.com, or visit Active-Asia.com.
