Prachai 'a dictator'

Matchima Thippatai deputy leader Sophon Phetsawang yesterday announced that he and his faction were leaving the party because they disagreed with Prachai Leophairatana's leadership style.

He believed other party members were also unhappy with Prachai and saw him as a dictator who listened to no one - just like deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra. Sophon is expected to join the "For the Motherland" Party soon.

Prachai dismissed the allegation he was a dictator and said Sophon would be sorry if he left. He warned that Sophon and his faction could fail to win MP seats with another party.

Party secretary-general Anongwan Thepsuthin said she was upset to see Sophon leave and believed he had misunderstood Prachai, who she said was open-minded about comments and opinions.
