Veteran Sophon leaves Matchima Thippatai

Sophon Phetsawang, a deputy leader of Matchima Thippatai Party, said he would quit the party because he and his faction members disagreed with the way party leader Prachai Leophairatana ran the party.

He believed some other party members were unhappy with Prachai either as they saw him as a dictator who listens to nobody like deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Sophon is expected to join the "For the Motherland" Party soon.

Meanwhile, Prachai said Sophon would be sorry to leave his party. He dismissed an allegation that he was a dictator. He warned that Sophon and his faction members could fail to win MP seats under other parties' shirts.

Party's secretary-general Anongwan Thepsuthin said she was upset to see Sophon's departure. She believed Sophon misunderstood about Prachai while asserting Prachai was open-minded for comments and opinions.
