The court read the verdict in the case in which Janwipa Ampapankit, 43, sued Kara for her alleged intimacy with her real-estate developer ex-husband Suratchai Keungha-kit via e-mail in 2005, while Janwipa and Surachai were still married. Janwipa deman-ded Bt20 million in compensation plus interest of 7.5 per cent per year until the full payment is made.
Since this case was a family case, media members and non-related parties were not allowed to observe the trial. Janwipa went to court with her relatives and her lawyer for the one-hour verdict reading, while Kara was abroad on business and assigned her lawyer's assistant to hear the verdict on her behalf.
After the verdict, Janpiwa left by the back door and gave no comment to journalists waiting outside the courtroom.
Her lawyer Supan Seuhan told reporters that the court had dismissed the lawsuit but he could not elaborate on the details. He said the plaintiff would definitely file an appeal within 30 days. Prior to the case, Janwipa had filed for divorce from Surachai at the Central Juvenile and Family Court. The court granted her custody rights over their two children and ordered Surachai to pay Bt50,000 a month in child support.
