Bannawit to run the next election

Outspoken Admiral Bannawit Kengrian said Thursday he intended to end his military service soon to run the December 23 election. However, he had not decided which party he would join.

His decision came after he was removed from the active post of Defence Ministry's deputy permanent secretary.

It was seen as punishment that he had criticised junta chief General Sonthi Boonyaratglin and Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont over a recent military reshuffle that saw his friend General Saprang Kalayanamitr failed to become the new Army chief-in-command.

Saprang is said to be resigning from the Army to run the next poll too.
