The statement also said His Majesty was now regaining more strength in his right side and particularly his leg,

His Majesty has been receiving treatment at the Siriraj Hospital since October 13.

The statement said the inflammation of a lump of tissue in His Majesty's large intestine was also improving after His Majesty was given antibiotics.

Many people wearing yellow showed up at Siriraj Hospital to wish the King good health and a quick recovery.

They formed long lines waiting to sign messages of good wishes. As of Tuesday, there were 95,252 messages for His Majesty.

Air Force commander-in-chief ACM Chalit Phukphasuk, who is also caretaker chairman of the Council for National Security, and Lao Ambassador Extraordinare in Bangkok, Ouan Phommachack, were among the high-profile figures who came to express best wishes to the monarch. A number of entertain-ment celebrities showed up yesterday. Ten musicians in His Majesty's music band also came to sign 'get well' messages.

Dr Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, thanked the loyal well wishers for their orderliness - in forming lines and respecting the hospital's rules.

In addition to the yellow colour seen all across the country, pink is now becoming very popular after it was reported it would bring good health to His Majesty.

Jirapong Kulpreukthananont, an executive of a big sewing business in Chiang Mai, said yesterday: "Pink T-shirts are selling like hot cakes."

He said weaving factories were now increasing their output of pink fabric.

The emblem commemorating His Majesty's 80th birthday contains a pink ribbon on which characters are written indicating the auspicious occasion.

His Majesty will turn 80 on December 5.

Earlier this year, a royal project initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, launched pink polo shirts emblazoning a picture painted by the princess and a message wishing His Majesty a long life. The polo shirts were an instant hit.

The colour of the polo shirts is exactly the same as that used in His Majesty's 80th birthday emblem.

A clothes seller in Suphan Buri, Manop Porncharoenchai, said pink T-shirts and polo shirts were now popular among government officials and the general public.

Yellow tops have been in demand since last year because that colour is associated with His Majesty's birthday.

"Yellow clothes are selling well, but now pink is also a hit," Manop said.
