Abhisit: Capital Control should be revoked

Abhisit Vejjajiva, Leader of the Democrat Party, said one of the priorities of the new government is the revokation of the capital control requirement because it sent the wrong signal to the investors.

Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, said that the new government should revoke the Bank of Thailand's capital control requirement immediately because it sent the wrong signal to foreign investors.

Speaking at the party's conference to announce the party's economic policy on Thursday, Abhisit said before hundreds of audience in a Bangkok hotel that the new government should end the 30 per cent reserves requirement. Moreover, the government should also halt the process to amend the foreign business law because it sent the wrong signal to the investors.

He said the amendment of foreign business law has created confusions to foreign investors.
