Poj Som-ngern, 31, was speaking to reporters outside the national police headquarters after trying unsuccessfully to meet Seripisut.

Poj said he spent more than two months in hospital after the accident on July 25 and his medical bills came to more than Bt200,000. However, the owner of the billboard had given him less than Bt20,000 as financial assistance.

Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin and the district office had given him some financial assistance as well, he said.

"I have repeatedly asked Bang Na Police Station to follow up on the case but I have not got any clear answer. Often, I am told to file a lawsuit in the Civil Court myself," Poj said.

His wife has had to quit her job as an accountant to look after Poj, who is now unable to take care of himself. The couple also have two young children.

Poj said the Leena Jang Foundation suggested he call on Seripisut for help.
