Energy Policy and Planning Office deputy director-general Adul Chaiaroon yesterday said the ministry would ask bidding companies to submit their methods of energy-management improvement and requests for financial support today.
The period for submission will end in two months, after which the office will take another two months to examine the proposals.
The state agency is expected to sign financial-support deals with the companies next March.
The project is aimed at encouraging factories with annual electric consumption not lower than 500,000 units and heat-power consumption not lower than 400 million British thermal units (BTU) to improve the efficiency of their energy-use management.
The planning office will provide financial support of Bt1 per unit of saved electricity units and Bt75 for saved heat-power units when factories can reduce the use of heat power from liquid fuel.
The planning office will first give financial support to the companies requesting the lowest amount of funding.
The Energy Conservation Fund has earmarked a budget of Bt550 million a year for five years (2008-11) for the planning office's project.
Adul said the project targeted the reduction of electricity consumption at 375 million units a year and heat-power consumption at 1.7 trillion BTU.
