Product prices monitored

Commerce Permanent Secretary Siripol Yodmuangcharoen has instructed the Internal Trade Department to monitor the impacts of oil prices on inflation and goods prices.

On reports that manufacturers are pressing for permission for the increase in product prices, Siripol noted that manufacturing does not involve only oil prices. As it concerns many other factors, to raise the product prices, other factors must be taken into account.

While saying that oil prices should not be the only cause for the product price increase, he admitted that after thorough estimates, a product needs to be priced more if the manufacturing cost has actually escalated.
