The 2007 report, submitted to the National Legislative Assembly on Monday, showed that the country lost Bt2.6 billion in damages, lost opportunities, low-quality and over-priced equipment, leaks, and incorrect income collection by state agencies.

The report indicated that 738 government agencies made purchases worth Bt6 billion without transparency. The office instructed 219 state agencies to correct and pay the state for damages worth Bt51.4 million.

Out of 464 complaints of irregularity filed by anonymous notes and reported in the media, 131 were believed to be incidents of corruption and malfeasance that cost the state more than Bt100 million. Another 45 complaints were projects which broke state directives costing Bt30 million in damages.

The office filed reports with the police to take action against officials and state agencies suspected of wrongdoings in such initiatives as the Nonthaburi irrigation project.

Other agencies with reports filed against them were the Tha Chang Municipality in Nakhon Nayok, Tambon Khao Phra Ngam Administrative Organisation in Lop Buri, Tambon Nam Chiew Administrative Organisation in Trat, Muang Samut Prakan Municipality, Tambon Puwong Administrative Organisation in Mukdahan, Tambon Rassada Administrative Organisation in Phuket.
