
The overall happiness index in September fell to 5.94 from 6.30 a month earlier. It was at the same level recorded in July, Noppadon said. A level of 10 indicates maximum happiness.
Noppadon suggested happiness was falling because of dissatisfaction with the performance of the Surayud Chulanont government.
Contentment with social justice took a hit in September, slipping to 5.47 from 5.80 in September one year ago.
Family satisfaction is down, too, at 6.14 in September compared with 7.88 a year ago.
Employment optimism has crashed to 6.11 from 7.18 in September 2006.
Individually, people are less positive, as well. Physical health is down at a factor of 6.07, compared with 6.56 12 months before and mental health dipped to 5.84 from 6.22 in the corresponding period of 2006.
Just 4.7 per cent of respondents said they experienced no unhappiness in their lives.
