The Public Health Ministry has temporarily banned a cosmetic procedure used by Bio Clinic in which liquid silicone is injected under patients' skin to eliminate shrinkage.
The decision was given on October 4 under the order of the Consumer Protection Board, said PM's Office Minister Dhipavadee Meksawan, who oversees the board. The ban also covers sale and distribution of the silicone.
Permanent secretary Phiphat Yingseri said an inspection team would soon test the silicone and later recommended for or against it. He said all hospitals and clinics nationwide had been notified of the ministry's order.
