Gambari will meet Surayud at 2pm next Monday at the Government House. After Thailand, Gambari will then travel to Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China and Japan where he is expected to up support for the UN's effort to bring about a political solution in Burma.
The source said Gambari is expected to receive a more concrete reactions from those countries after the UN Security Council issued a statement criticising Burma's cracked down on peaceful protesters last month.
According to the Burmese government, eight people, including monks were killed during the suppression. But independent sources and exiled community said the number was in the dozens and that hundreds continue to be unaccounted for.
UN dispatched Gambari to Burma to meet with the junta chief and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi just days after the violent crackdown.
