Central plans Bt1 bn renovation budget for Lat Phrao

Centara Hotels and Resorts Plc is preparing to spend Bt1 billion to renovate Sofitel Centara Grand Hotel and Central Plaza Lat Phrao if the group's contract is renewed by the State Railway of Thailand.

Thirayuth Chirathiwat, senior vice president for project management, said the negotiation over extending the contract with the agency is not concluded yet, but the group is confident that it woudl have the contract renewed.

Therefore, the group has planned the Bt1 billion budget to renovate the properties which has been operating for 30 years.

The SRT earlier said that the renewal may need the consent from the next government, given that independent appraisers have not yet completed the appraisals on the property. Results from the independent appraisers would be used for the negotiation for higher contract value.
