Party deputy leader Samphan Lertnuwat said yesterday that leader Samak Sundaravej sought permission two weeks ago from the Bangkok governor to use Sanam Luang.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is yet to reply. "We are waiting for permission from the governor. We will ask again," he said. The party is confident the rally will be allowed to proceed.
The rally is set for this Friday with the highlight a speech by Samak outlining the party's mass-transit policy. Other key members will speak, too.
The party will introduce its 30 candidates for Bangkok seats. Some are former members of Parliament.
