ENERGY CONSERVATION
Supports to energy reduction programmes
Plant and building owners are invited to tap financial supports from the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO), for their energy reduction investment plans as part of the energy conservation programme during 2008-2011.
EPPO's director-general Viraphol Jirapraditkul said wanting to join the programme, plant owners must submit their proposals and the ones with the lowest bids will first receive the supports. The maximum supports is Bt1 per each unit to be reduced.
The programme targets industrial plants and office buildings which consume 500,000 units of power per annum. "This should encourage them to increase energy efficiency faster. We hope this project will reduce energy consumption by 500 million units a year or about 77 megawatts."
As part of energy consumption campaign, the office would also promote the use of energy-saving light bulbs.
