Je Festival to boost Hat Yai tourism

Tourism Authority of Thailand's South Office in cooperation with tourism associations in Hat Yai will host the Je Festival during October 10-19, to boost tourism in the city.

In the sixth year, organisers of the vegetarian festival have offered tour packages in cooperation with agencies in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. About 15,000 packages have been booked, said Nimit Chaitheerathikul, chairman of the federation of Songkhla tourism associations.

For the festival, hotels in the city with accumulated 10,000 rooms would enjoy the occupancy rate of over 60 per cent. It is estimated that the festival would generate a total of Bt150 million.
