Property funds issuance fall to only Bt10 billion this year

Property funds issued this year are expected to record as low las Bt10 billion from earlier forecast of Bt100 billion due mainly to the Bank of Thailand's capital control measure.

Maris Tarab, president of Association of Investment Management Companies (AIMC), said yesterday that the property fund growth has been significantly slowdown compared to last year due mainly to the central bank's 30 per cent reserve requirement.

In 2006, the property fund grew 100 per cent from around Bt20 billion to Bt45 billion. But this year, the property fund is expected to grow to Bt55 billion.

The property fund issued earlier this year include Major Cineplex Lifestyle Property Fund, Kasikorn Asset Management's property fund, and TFUND.
