Bidding on CM exhibition centre cancelled

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)'s Northern Office has cancelled the bidding for the Chiang Mai Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Chunapong Saranak, director of the office, said that the bidding's term of reference was cancelled late September. The centre was also planned to house the Industry Ministry's SME Centre for the North. According to Chunapong, the Tourism and Sports Ministry asked the Industry Ministry if it still wanted to build the SME Centre in the vicinity but the latter has not yet replied, meaning that the plan no longer exists.

The ToR was cancelled on a remark from the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) that conditions in awarding the construction works to a private company should be tightened due to the huge investment value of Bt1.9 billion.
