If approved, the bill will go to the National Legislative Assembly for final consideration. The entire process will take at least two months, Internal Trade Department deputy director-general Vatcharee Vimooktayon said yesterday.

Hi-tech cans

Bangkok Can Manufacturing will open a Bt800-million production line using Toyo Ultimate Lightweight Can (TULC) technology from Japan, with the goal of becoming the top TULC-maker, with a market share of 50 per cent within a year. The line can churn out 45 million to 50 million cans a month. The technology will also lower production costs 5-10 per cent for 330-ml cans.

Currently, the company has production capacity of one billion cans a year using ADI technology.

No hangovers

TC Global Union has received a large order from Russia for 30 containers of Wakie anti-hangover-relief capsules and tonic.

CEO Piti Kittithira-pornchai yesterday said under a one-year contract, the Russian partner would distribute Wakie throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

"It's the first time for the company to access a market that has great potential to become its distribution centre within the CIS group," he said, adding that the market there had high purchasing power and that the economy was growing.
